Your First Shell Script?

Share

Smart FolderAs promised, today we’re going to take yesterday’s tip and enhance it by creating a tiny little script. The script will sync our iWeb content and then delete the published files from your local machine.

Unfortunately, deleting the files means it’s time to introduce the rm command. Murphy knows this command will ultimately help you – but he worries. So use it with great care.

It’s like del if you’re coming from Windows. Final and unforgiving. Once you delete something with rm it’s gone. Really gone. So be careful. If you haven’t used the Terminal before take a look at this warning screencast before you make your shell script.

This tip revisits pico and the ls command, we’ll assume you’re familiar with those by now!
