Macworld: Second Christmas
Share
Murphy has long considered Macworld to be Second Christmas. All Murphy really wants for this year’s Second Christmas: Make the Apple-branded (FM) Radio Remote compatible with the iPod Touch. And maybe the iPhone.
Come on Apple, why isn’t it compatible? Think of all the cool stuff you could do with the big screen. Presets. An eye-candy dial. Presets. If someone around here had any Photoshop skills we’d whip up a concept photo. With presets.
Customers spent $50 on this thing. No doubt the profit margin was substantial. Give a little back and make it work with the touch. The Apple site says (as of Jan 13) it’s compatible with all iPods except the Shuffle. The touch is an iPod.
Along with the FM part not working, the remote doesn’t even work. The touch begs for a remote with its lack of hardware buttons for volume and / or pause. We won’t dwell on the obvious benefits of keeping the device in your pocket and using a remote.
I’m going to be optimistic and believe the Radio Remote will be activated in the next firmware update.

Ummm….I’m confused, as you say the Apple webpage says that “the Radio Remote works with any iPod EXCEPT the Shuffle”…..
So, doesn’t that mean it works with the Touch??????
If so, Merry X-Mas!

Well, according to the web page, it should work. But in reality it does not…

I will second you on that - radio and volume control support via the Radio remote is a must for the next update!
Specialy because the 3th. party “Gear4 BluEye iPod-phone adaptor” works both for radio and volumes - but I want to use my Apple stuff
Strangely I can find it in the danish apple store, but not the US ..
